URL Encode & Decode

Escape characters that can't sit in a URL — spaces, &, ?, #, non-English letters — as %XX, or turn a copied link full of %E2%9C%93 back into plain text. Encoding follows the rules for a single query value (encodeURIComponent).

Decode a JWT

The signature is not verified — that needs the key, and pretending otherwise is worse than not doing it. This only decodes the contents.

About this tool

How to use it

  1. 1 Paste text or an encoded string into the input box.
  2. 2 Press URL encode to get %XX, or URL decode to get the original text back.
  3. 3 Copy the result into your link or query string.

Good to know

  • The page audit reads HTML you paste — use the Link checker to follow a link
  • YAML support covers the widely used syntax only
  • JWT decoding unpacks the contents; it does not verify the signature

Frequently asked questions

Why are spaces %20 and not +?

This is the standard escaping for a single query value. HTML forms use + instead, but servers generally read both as a space.

Decoding left the + signs alone.

Decoding only turns %XX back into characters and keeps + as is. If the value came from a form, replace + with a space first.

What happens if I paste a whole URL?

Everything, including :// / ? and &, gets escaped. Paste just the piece you need, such as one query value.
