SHA-256 Hash Generator

Paste text and its SHA-256 hash (hex) updates as you type. Switch the algorithm to SHA-1, SHA-384 or SHA-512. Text is hashed as UTF-8 bytes, so the result matches other tools for the same input.

Hash

MD5 is not included. Browsers don't offer it, and it should not be used for anything new.

    • YAML support covers the widely used syntax only
    • JWT decoding unpacks the contents; it does not verify the signature

    Frequently asked questions

    Is there MD5?

No. Browsers don't provide MD5, and it shouldn't be used for anything new — collisions are easy to produce.

My hash doesn't match another tool's.

A single trailing newline or space changes the whole hash. When comparing with echo, which adds a newline, add one here too.

    Can I hash a file?

This tool hashes the text you paste only.
