Compress an image to any size in KB

Get a photo under the file size a form allows — 100KB, 50KB, 20KB or any number you type. Quality is lowered first, and only if that is not enough are the width and height reduced; once a photo fits, it isn't squeezed any further.

About this tool

How to use it

  1. 1 Drop in your photos or press Choose files — iPhone HEIC photos are fine too.
  2. 2 More options is already open, with JPEG as the format and 100 in Max file size (KB). Change the number to the limit you were given — 20, 50, 200 and so on.
  3. 3 Each row shows the size it came out at. Press Download for a single photo; with several, Download all as ZIP saves them together.

Good to know

  • It cannot beat the original's quality — enlarging softens the picture
  • Many very large photos at once can overwhelm the browser

Frequently asked questions

What if it can't get under the size I set?

It won't claim it did. That photo's row says it couldn't get under the target and shows the smallest size it reached. A very small target may be out of reach for some photos.

Can I set exact dimensions, like 200 × 230 pixels?

No. It doesn't stretch or crop to a fixed size, and it doesn't work in cm or DPI. Under More options you can set a Max width and Max height, and the photo is shrunk to stay within them with its proportions unchanged.

With several photos, is the limit for all of them together?

No, it applies to each photo. Add ten photos and each one is brought under the limit on its own.
